The Details

PROJECT OVERVIEW

IDES Electrical Services were appointed to deliver the complete electrical design and installation package for a new accident repair centre in Newcastle. Developed by Komoo, the facility was designed to support the repair and preparation of vehicles for major fleet operators, requiring a robust electrical infrastructure capable of supporting demanding bodyshop operations.

THE CHALLENGE

The project involved the delivery of a complete electrical installation within a new-build facility, including the design and installation of power, lighting and containment systems to support a modern accident repair environment.

A key requirement of the project was the provision of a high-performance lighting solution capable of achieving approximately 1,000 lux at floor level throughout the workshop. This level of illumination is essential within accident repair facilities, helping technicians carry out detailed inspection, preparation and repair work safely and efficiently while maintaining energy efficiency.

The installation also needed to accommodate specialist bodyshop equipment, including spray booths and vehicle lifts, requiring careful planning of the electrical distribution infrastructure throughout the facility.

OUR SOLUTION

IDES provided a complete design-and-build solution, undertaking site surveys, lighting calculations, electrical design and installation works. The project included the installation of galvanised containment systems, new electrical distribution infrastructure, power supplies for specialist bodyshop equipment and a bespoke lighting scheme tailored to the operational requirements of the facility.

To achieve the required lighting performance, IDES specified and installed its own AUTOLUX LED lighting system. Designed specifically for automotive environments, the AUTOLUX solution provided a uniform distribution of light across the workshop floor while delivering the energy efficiency benefits associated with modern LED technology.

The installation also included supplies for spray booth equipment, vehicle lifts, emergency lighting systems and external LED floodlighting throughout the site.
