PROJECT OVERVIEW

IDES Electrical Services were appointed to deliver the complete electrical design and installation package for Chemist4U’s new head office and distribution facility in Skelmersdale. Working alongside IPL Design & Build, IDES provided a comprehensive design-and-build electrical solution for the new office and warehouse development, supporting the continued growth of one of the UK’s leading online pharmacy providers.

The project formed part of Chemist4U’s expansion strategy, creating a new 40,000 sq ft head office and distribution facility capable of supporting increased warehousing capacity, pharmaceutical storage and future business growth.

THE CHALLENGE

The project involved the delivery of a complete electrical installation across a large-scale office and warehouse facility, requiring the integration of power, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm, data infrastructure, access control, CCTV and electrical distribution systems throughout the development.

The scale of the development required separate electrical infrastructure packages for both the warehouse and office environments, each with differing operational requirements and performance standards. The warehouse environment required high-performance lighting and electrical services capable of supporting storage and distribution activities, while office areas required modern workplace environments designed to maximise comfort, productivity and energy efficiency.

Careful coordination with the Principal Contractor and wider project team was essential to ensure all services were delivered in line with programme requirements and the operational needs of the end user.

OUR SOLUTION

IDES provided a full design-and-build electrical package, undertaking lighting calculations, electrical design, distribution design and installation works throughout the facility.

The project comprised substantial electrical installations across both warehouse and office areas, requiring the coordination of multiple workstreams throughout the development. The warehouse installation incorporated energy-efficient high-bay LED lighting, emergency lighting, power distribution and data infrastructure designed to support operational efficiency and future expansion.

Specialist storage areas used for pharmaceutical products and secure storage cages were incorporated within the overall electrical design, ensuring the facility could meet the operational requirements of a modern pharmaceutical distribution business.

Office areas were designed in accordance with relevant workplace lighting standards, creating a comfortable and productive environment for staff while maintaining energy efficiency throughout the building.
