PROJECT OVERVIEW

IDES Electrical Services were appointed by Jones & Andrews Ltd to deliver the complete electrical installation for a new Pirate Studios facility in Tottenham, London. Designed for DJs, musicians and music producers, the development comprised a specialist creative environment featuring recording, rehearsal and production studios together with communal and support areas. The project required a comprehensive electrical infrastructure package to support both the technical and operational requirements of the facility.

THE CHALLENGE

The project involved the fit-out of a brand-new facility within a demanding 13-week programme, requiring close coordination between multiple contractors to achieve the client’s opening schedule.

Unlike a traditional commercial fit-out, the electrical installation needed to support acoustically treated studio environments. Careful consideration was given to power distribution and electrical infrastructure, including isolated power supplies, to ensure compatibility with specialist audio equipment and studio operations. The site’s location close to Seven Sisters station also presented logistical challenges associated with working within a busy urban environment.

To maintain programme milestones and achieve the required completion date, the IDES team undertook consecutive weekend working and extended hours throughout key phases of the project.

OUR SOLUTION

Working alongside Jones & Andrews Ltd, IDES delivered a complete turnkey electrical package from installation through to final testing and commissioning.

The works included new electrical distribution infrastructure, isolated power supplies, lighting, emergency lighting, data infrastructure, fire alarm systems and small power installations throughout the facility. New galvanised containment systems were installed alongside distribution equipment designed to support the operational requirements of a modern recording studio environment.

A key feature of the project was the installation of brand-led lighting throughout the facility, including LED strip lighting and back-lit signage designed to reflect the Pirate Studios identity. Lighting installations were completed throughout the studios, corridors, communal areas and service spaces, helping create an engaging and professional environment for users while maintaining the functionality required within a creative workspace.

PROJECT OUTCOME

The project was successfully completed within the 13-week programme, delivering a modern, compliant and reliable electrical infrastructure for a new Pirate Studios facility in Tottenham.
