PROJECT OVERVIEW
IDES Electrical Services were appointed by Jones & Andrews Ltd to deliver the complete electrical refurbishment of a Foot Locker store in Leeds city centre. The project involved the strip-out of the existing electrical installation and the installation of a new electrical infrastructure package to support the retailer’s refreshed store environment and operational requirements.
As one of IDES’ early large-scale retail projects with Jones & Andrews Ltd, the successful delivery of the scheme helped establish a strong working relationship that has continued across numerous retail projects nationwide.
THE CHALLENGE
The project required the complete replacement of the existing electrical installation within a closed-store refurbishment programme. All existing electrical services were stripped out and replaced, requiring careful coordination with the wider fit-out team to maintain programme milestones and achieve the client’s planned reopening date.
The installation incorporated power, lighting, data infrastructure, fire alarm systems and Building Management System connections throughout the facility. Particular attention was required to deliver the brand-specific lighting scheme, including window display lighting and specialist retail lighting installations designed to enhance the customer experience and showcase merchandise effectively.
OUR SOLUTION
Working alongside Jones & Andrews Ltd, IDES delivered a complete electrical refurbishment package from initial strip-out through to final testing and commissioning. The works included new electrical distribution infrastructure, power systems, lighting, emergency lighting, data infrastructure, fire alarm systems and Building Management System wiring throughout the store.
New galvanised containment systems were installed together with new distribution boards and supporting electrical infrastructure designed to support both customer-facing retail operations and back-of-house functions. The lighting installation was completed in accordance with the retailer’s specification, incorporating specialist shop-floor lighting, window display lighting and back-of-house areas to create a consistent and high-quality retail environment throughout the store.
To maintain programme requirements, the IDES team undertook additional hours and weekend working where required, ensuring the project remained on schedule and was delivered in line with the client’s refurbishment programme.
